NJ Student Learning Standards

The curriculum at Delaware Township School revolves around the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.  The New Jersey Student Learning Standards include Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards, as well as nine K-12 standards for the following content areas:

Comprehensive Health & PhysEd

English Language Arts

Mathematics / Science  / Social Studies

Career Readiness, Life Literacies & Key Skills

Technology / World Languages

Visual & Performing Arts

The newly revised NJ standards were developed in collaboration with teachers, school administrators, and experts, to provide a clear and consistent framework to prepare our children for college and the workforce.

The standards are informed by the highest, most effective models from states across the country and countries around the world, and provide teachers and parents with a common understanding of what students are expected to learn.  Consistent standards will provide appropriate benchmarks for all students, regardless of where they live.

These standards define the knowledge and skills students should have within their K-12 education careers so that they will graduate high school able to succeed in entry-level, credit-bearing academic college courses and in workforce training programs.

The standards:
• Are aligned with college & work expectations
• Are clear, understandable & consistent
• Include rigorous content & application of knowledge through high-order skills
• Build upon strengths & lessons of current state standards
• Are informed by other top performing countries so all students are prepared to succeed in our global economy & society
• Are evidence-based.

DTS Performance Reports

New Jersey’s School Performance Reports provide families, educators and the public a picture of overall school performance. The performance reports offer valuable information across many elements, including schoolwide academic achievement and progress, demographics, school climate, chronic absenteeism, and college and career readiness.

The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) encourages all members of the school community to use the reports to help start local conversations by asking questions such as: Are our students on track for success? Are all of our students making progress from last year? What areas is our school doing well in, and in what areas might we need improvement?”  The School Performance Reports were developed with, and are continually enhanced by, input from stakeholders like you.
